Please join us for an extraordinary opportunity to learn from a master of commercial fiction, number-one bestselling author Jeffery Deaver. Whether you’re as-yet unpublished or a pro with a proven track record, you’ll find something helpful in Jeffery’s presentation. The course is primarily in lecture format, but there will be some opportunities for workshop participation and plenty of chances to interrogate your instructor!
International number-one bestselling author Jeffery Deaver has written 40 novels and more than 60 short stories. He’s turned his experiences learned over 30 years as a full-time novelist into an intensive course that touches on all aspects of creating and publishing commercial novels and short fiction. Though Jeffery’s experience has been primarily in thrillers and crime, his techniques apply equally well to crafting works in any genre.
Here’s the general outline of the course: The General Rules of Writing Fiction; The Four Elements of a Novel or Story, plot, character, setting, and dialogue; Writing the Book Itself, planning, outlining, researching, writing, editing, polishing, and feedback; and The Business of Writing and Publishing.
Registration includes the workshop, buffet lunch, and the reception at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1715 Bull Street, Columbia, SC, Good Shepherd Room.
