SEMWA Programming 2019

Feb 23, 2019 – Murder in the Magic City, Birmingham, AL. SEMWA was a sponsor of this event. Members participated in panels. Guest Speakers were Sue Ann Jaffarian and Lee Goldberg.

June 22, 2019 – Columbia, SC. Mystery in the Midlands – featuring Nancy Pickard – SEMWA will partner with Palmetto Sisters in Crime. Panels throughout the day will feature SEMWA authors.

Summer 2019 Literacy Drive – A member from our chapter will request books from SEMWA members and present them to a nearby library. The literacy drive usually runs from June through August or September.

August 23-25, 2019 – Killer Nashville – Franklin, TN. SEMWA is a proud sponsor of this event. Check it out at SEMWA does Ready.Set.Pitch on Thursday at 5 pm for writers wishing to practice their pitches. Additionally, we will have a SEMWA-only panel highlighting our authors.

The Killer Nashville Silver Falchion Award The Killer Nashville Silver Falchion Award began in 2008 as a way to honor attending writers at the Killer Nashville International Writers’ Conference. But as Killer Nashville’s reach has grown, so has interest in its competitions. And now the competition is open to self-published and traditionally published writers throughout the world. The Killer Nashville Silver Falchion Award is committed to discovering new writers, as well as superlative books by established authors and, upon discovery, sharing those writers and their works with new readers. The Killer Nashville Claymore Award The Killer Nashville Claymore Award was created to assist new and rebranding English-language fiction authors get published, including possible agent representation, book advances, editor deals, and movie and television sales.

October 11-13, 2019 – Southern Festival of Books, Nashville, TN. Partnering with Tennessee SinC for a double booth and will have SEMWA authors highlighted on program panels.

March 22-29, 2020 – Writer’s Retreat, Outer Banks, NC. – The retreat blends an easy relaxed style, a week’s stay at the beach, writerly fellowship, a series of workshops, and public appearances. Registration will open in November, 2019.
